UNIZIK STUDENTS RAISE ALARM OVER DILAPIDATION OF ACCESS ROAD.
By prince Henry
These pictures depicts the terrible and incapacitated state of the Ifite road, that leads the school gate to Amansea which has not only hindered the free flow of movement but has also made life miserable and quite unbearable for students. Erosion is also threatening to cut off the amansea portion of the road.
Yet the students still have hope that with the several visits of high level government officials to the site, the work currently going on there will not be politicized, because students and other neighbouring communities have suffered a great deal as a result of the road's terrible condition.
The students are calling on the Government to take serious disciplinary action against the contractor handling the Commissioner's Quarters - School gate axis. It is quite clear that the contractors, Alitho Engineering, are incompetent and are using the road as a 'political tool of deception'. They've made the road worse than they met it. According to them, they want to believe the government is not behind it.
The students and the neighboring communities are calling on the Government to award that road to another serious contractor who will complete the road before the elections, rather than wait for an unfortunate incident to occur as a result of the Alitho Engineering's clear incompetence and then come to condole with the student community.
