INCREDIBLE!!! UNIZIK IS AT IT AGAIN, AS OUR OWN ENGINEERS PRODUCE STANDARD FORMULA 1 CAR

The Faculty of Engineering Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has always been at their best, with our engineering students cracking their heads day in day out,putting in all effort and energy required for the faculty of Engineering Unizik, to be regarded as one of the best in the whole of Nigeria and the world at large.

Recently, our engineers have been up and doing, going out of their shells of studying just 'FEG Maths' and calculus, and going into the world of design and fabrication. This zeal in them is being actualized by their ever zealous lecturers, who have deposited in them that enthusiasm to drive for positive change.

This formula car project was just like day dream at the initial stage of the project and now it has become reality just within a twinkle of an eye.

All thanks to the Dean Faculty of Engineering Prof. C. Ihueze, the HOD of Mechanical Engineering Dr. C.H Achebe, Dr. Nwigbo Solomon, and all supporting lecturers that made this project a reality and have brought glory to the Faculty of Engineering and most especially the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

A warm applause to the five final year students of Mechanical Engineering Department, who took this upon themselves to make out this difference that the department have long sought; by taking this project as their final year project.

The names of the great student engineers include:

• *Okoyenta Augustus,
• *Okeke Chukwuebuka,
• *Ofoegbu Kenechukwu,
• *Ibekwe Ebeneezer and
• *Ezeani Chikeluba.

According to the initiator of the project, Okoyenta Augustus, the materials for the car were locally sourced and it took them two years to put in place. The cost of the project still according to him was about .4 million naira, though with the strong support of the department.

The car was driven by the students, to the administrative block of the school last tuesday to showcase the great achievement to the vice chancellor, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku and the university community at large.

We wish the Mechanical Engineering Department more grease to their elbow.
